Mandate
Under the Mandates tab you can add a new mandate for the account. This means you can give your husband, wife, partner or another person access to your account. You can also change the mandate type or delete a mandate already issued.
How to add a mandate

1. Click the Add Mandate button and a new screen appears

2. Enter either account number(14-digits) or customer number (10-digits) for the person you want to give access to the account in the empty field

3. Enter the name of the person to whom you want to issue the mandate

4. Choose one of the two types of mandate.
a) Choose Debits And Enquiries if you want your mandate holder to be able to enquire about and make debit and credit transactions on your account. With this option the mandate holder can operate your account in a branch, through eBanking and through 24 Hour Telephone Banking. We will act on the instructions of the mandate holder alone without getting any further authority from you. b) Choose Enquiries Only, if you want your mandate holder only to be able to enquire about and make credit transactions on your account. With this option the mandate holder will be able to use eBanking and/or 24 Hour telephone Banking to view your account but will not be able to carry out any transactions on your account except for credit transactions.
It is important that you read and understand the terms and conditions for eBanking and 24 Hour Telephone Banking which are available on our website at www.nationalirishbank.ie/termsandconditions as these are the terms and conditions that will apply to the mandate holder’s use of these services.

5. Choose the validity of the mandate (the period for which it is valid). Note that you can select only one option.
a) Choose Until Revoked if you want the mandate to run until further notice.
b) Choose start date or end date if you want to stipulate specific dates.
I. If you fill in the Start Date field but not the End Date field, the mandate will be valid until further notice.
II. If you do not fill in the Start Date field, but do fill in the End Date field, the mandate will take effect on the next banking day and will expire on the date you have entered.
III. If you fill in the Start Date and End Date fields, the mandate will take effect on the date you have entered and end on the date you have entered (both days included).

6. Click OK to continue and sign this mandate. If you click Cancel, you will return to the Add Mandate screen. It is important that you read and understand the terms of the mandate before you click OK. If you do not understand any point or do not agree to the terms of the mandate then you should click Cancel. If you wish to discuss any point please contact your branch.
