Every year the Swedish company Hallvarsson & Halvarsson (H&H) publishes its web ranking, which is a ranking of the websites of a considerable number of European companies. The 2008 web ranking puts the Danske Bank Group in first place among the 31 Danish companies included in the benchmark.

An internationally recognised benchmark for corporate web communication
Every year H&H surveys the websites of 730 European companies and ranks the websites in a report. The report is an internally recognised benchmark used by companies to evaluate their own communication on the web and for making comparisons with other websites.

First place among Danish companies
The recently published survey puts the Danske Bank’s group site, danskebank.com, in first place in Denmark and in ninth place in Europe. The Group has received a high score in particular within Employer Branding, Investor Relations and Corporate Responsibility.

The ratings for these three areas are:

  • Employer branding: 5 out of 5 points (the sector average is 2.19 points).
  • Investor relations: 24.25 out of 26.75 points (the sector average is 16.20 points).
  • Corporate responsibility: 3.5 out of 4 points (the sector average is 2.46 points).

Both Employer Branding and Investor Relations are mentioned in the report as being among the best performing areas of all the 730 surveyed companies.

From a spot as number 28 to first place
The H&H web ranking contains suggestions for improvement, which can pave the way for first class communication on the web. The annual H&H report is a tool used by companies to strengthen their communication on the web, informs Martin Gottlob, Head of Investor Relations. “We are also included in other surveys, but of course we take notice of a survey such as H&H’s and its recommendations,” says Martin Gottlob, revealing satisfaction in the company's fine ranking.

And it would seem that H&H’s recommendations work. In 2003, the Danske Bank Group’s IR site was ranked as number 28 among Danish companies and as number 136 among European companies. But since 2004, the site has been the best IR site in Denmark.

Downloads in various formats
The H&H web ranking includes an evaluation of whether a company provides the information which the website’s target audience expects to find and whether material is available for downloaded in various formats. In both areas, Investor Relations scores highly on annual reports and interim reports, which are available in PDF format. Part reports are also available for download as Excel documents, which adds to the ranking, as this features is often requested by analysts.

In spite of the high ranking in Denmark, the Group site as a whole could be made even better, as the total score is 77.25 points out of a maximum of 100 points. For this reason, the Group will also in 2009 analyse the examples of best practice included in the H&H web ranking report.
