Sustainable lending

When we grant a loan to a customer, we enter into a long-term commitment. We carefully evaluate the customer’s financial situation to make sure that we understand it, and we offer loans that are suited to that customer’s needs and financial capacity. Besides considering the purpose for which the funds will be used, we also seek to integrate ESG considerations into credit granting on par with the assessment of financial key figures.

UN Principles for Responsible Banking

Danske Bank has signed the Principles for Responsible Banking developed by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). The Principles provide a common framework to support the banking industry in contributing to sustainable development and making a positive contribution to society in the future. For banks, this entails setting clearly defined targets and reporting on their societal impact – both positive and negative – on the communities where they operate.

Step 1:
Pre-qualification questions

Risk profile assessment on the basis of information about the type of products and services in the tender and where they are produced.

Step 2:
Self-assessment questionnaire

Suppliers that are assessed as high-risk are asked to complete an additional in-depth questionnaire about their ESG policies and performances.

Step 3:
Corrective action plan

If we deem the result of the self-assessment questionnaire to be unsatisfactory, we engage in dialogue and agree on a corrective action plan, if needed.

Treating all our customers fairly and providing responsible advisory services are requirements and values that are embedded in our policies and practices. Employees must act in the best interest of the customers and offer them the products and advice deemed suitable for them.

To best target our customers’ needs, we have a number of specialised departments, provide support to customers  with special needs and work to prevent financial exclusion in the context of digitalised financial services. 

Access to financial services

Digitalisation is transforming the financial infrastructure, and it is important for us to manage this transition responsibly. We do this by ensuring that our services are accessible and easy to use.

Cash card

We have enabled homeless vendors of Hus Forbi to receive payments via MobilePay and get the money transferred to a cash card.

Talking ATMs

To help visually impaired customers, many of our ATMs have synthetic speech.

Cash deposits

Cash can be deposited at selected ATMs in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Northern Ireland.

Easy banking

To accommodate Danish customers who are not confident with digital banking, we have developed Easy Banking - a simplified version of our eBanking solution.

Ordinary mail

For Danish customers with special needs who have difficulties with digital communication, we offer correspondence by ordinary post.
