Partnerships

At Danske Bank Group, we try to promote social and environmental responsibility across our business activities. We do so in order to manage our own risk efficiently and because we think it is the right thing to do. It also helps us meet the ten principles of corporate responsibility in the UN Global Compact.

We are active in various networks and take part in initiatives to find solutions to global challenges.

Overview of partnerships

  • In 2007, we joined the UN Global Compact, which is the world's most comprehensive corporate responsibility initiative. The Global Compact is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together all relevant stakeholders such as governments, the private sector, the labour market and civil society to promote universal principles in the areas of human rights, employee rights, the environment and anti-corruption.

By joining the Global Compact, we show our commitment and take action on the Global Compact's ten principles in our policies and business operations.

    The Global Compact Nordic Network

We take part in the Global Compact Nordic Network, which is a regional network working within the global framework. The objectives of the Nordic Network are to

    • promote the Global Compact
    • create a knowledge-sharing forum for Nordic Global Compact members
    • establish good practices
    • inspire and help other Nordic companies implement the ten principles

The Global Compact Nordic Network has more than 110 members. It is open to companies and business associations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

  • We collaborate with Verisk Maplecroft, which specialises in various responsible sourcing matters.

    Monitoring social and ethical conditions
Verisk Maplecroft monitors social and ethical conditions in many countries and regions. They are able to provide an overview of where human rights may be violated, for example. Verisk Maplecroft provides background information for our risk assessment of conditions in 198 countries.

  • Danske Bank has partnered with Ecodesk, an online platform for supply chain sustainability assessment and evaluation. Ecodesk hosts and evaluates the self-assessment questionnaires for our suppliers in the Responsible sourcing process.

  • We work with corporate responsibility not only in our own supply chain but also in a broader context with shared methods for responsible sourcing globally. Collaboration between companies, suppliers, public authorities, trade unions and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) can lead ultimately to improvements at our own suppliers.

Part of the UN financial sector initiative
We have made a firm commitment to various networks, for example, the UNEP FI, which is the UN’s global programme for sustainability in the financial sector. We seek to achieve broad agreement with other financial institutions about resolving issues in responsible sourcing together.
