Danske Bank introduces positive interest rate on salary accounts and raises interest rates on savings accounts

Danske Bank is introducing a positive interest rate of 0.25% p.a. on its Danske Konto transaction account type for customers who have their NemKonto account with Danske Bank. Danske Konto accounts are normally used by our customers for salary payments and budgets. Interest rates are also being raised on several savings accounts. For example, we now offer customers 3% on our Danske Toprente account and 2.5% on our child savings account. The change in the Danske Toprente interest rate applies from 18 September, while all other changes apply from 1 October 2023.

Danske Bank wants to provide customers with attractive and competitive value offerings, and with the latest interest rate increase, we now offer positive interest rates on salary and budget accounts. We are also raising interest rates on several savings accounts, just as we continue to offer a favourable rate on our Danske Toprente account, which is recommended by the Danish Consumer Council. The various accounts can be set up easily and free of charge via Danske Mobile Banking or Danske eBanking,” says Mark Wraa-Hansen, Head of Personal Customers at Danske Bank.

The interest rate of 0.25% p.a. is variable and applies to Danske Konto balances of up to DKK 50,000, providing the customer has their NemKonto account with Danske Bank. We continue to recommend that customers use transaction accounts for day-to-day expenses and place funds in our savings or investment products, for example. This is why the interest rate on Danske Konto account balances above DKK 50,000 is 0% p.a. – as is the interest rate for customers who do not have their NemKonto account with Danske Bank.

We are raising the interest rate on Danske Konto accounts on 1 October 2023, provided that you have your NemKonto account with Danske Bank. The interest rate is variable and also varies with the account balance:

  • 0.25% p.a. for balances up to DKK 50,000
  • 0.00% p.a. for the portion of the balance that exceeds DKK 50,000
New interest rates on other savings account types
We are also raising interest rates on other savings accounts, such as the Danske Indlån savings account and our child savings account. You can read more and view the interest rates here.

Favourable rates on other savings accounts
For large deposit amounts, we recommend that customers invest their money or place it in one of our savings accounts. Below, you can read more about our Danske Indlån and Danske Toprente savings accounts.

Danske Indlån
Danske Indlån is a straightforward and flexible savings account without any commitment period that can suit customers who do not need to make frequent withdrawals. You can transfer money to the account at any time, and you can make one withdrawal a month free of charge. The interest rate is variable and depends on whether you have your NemKonto account with Danske Bank and the account balance.

Danske Toprente
Danske Toprente is a savings account where access to the savings is restricted for a fixed period of time against a favourable interest rate. This can be a good choice for customers who know they will not need their savings for a particular period. The funds are inaccessible for 6, 12 or 24 months, and deposits can range from DKK 40,000 and all the way up to DKK 25,000,000. Danske Toprente is recommended by the Danish Consumer Council.

Both savings accounts can be set up in Danske Mobile Banking or Danske eBanking. You can view current interest rates for Danske Indlån and Danske Toprente savings accounts and read the terms and conditions here.
