Danske Bank to appoint new Head of Large Corporates & Institutions

After 16 years at Danske Bank and 32 years in the financial sector, Berit Behring, who heads Large Corporates & Institutions and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team in Danske Bank, has decided to start the transition to retirement from the bank. Berit Behring is announcing this early to allow for a good transition of leadership, as she will stay on in her role at Danske Bank until 1 August 2023.

I really love Danske Bank. We have some of the best experts in the market, and when they team up for the benefit of our customers, it is a winning concept. I enjoy working with so many talented colleagues, so this has not been an easy decision. After 16 years at the bank, I am, however, increasingly ready to move closer to my family that lives in Sweden and to start the transition to a career in a less operational role. It is not the time to say goodbye yet, and I am happy that I get to continue working with the rest of the management team and all my other colleagues on delivering on our 2023 targets as well as setting Danske Bank up for success by doing my part in defining the strategic direction beyond 2023,“ says Berit Behring.

Berit Behring has been employed with Danske Bank since 2007 and has been a member of the Executive Leadership Team since 2019.

Berit Behring has been instrumental in strengthening our position in Sweden and in recent years ensuring that we have further reinforced our already strong offerings to our corporate and institutional customers. This has among others resulted in Danske Bank taking a leading position among Nordic banks in terms of supported volumes in the European debt and equity capital markets as well as within sustainable finance. Danske Bank and I are thankful for this and also for Berit informing me in due time of her decision, so that we can continue to benefit from her unique knowledge in the ongoing work of articulating our strategic direction that goes beyond 2023, as well as ensuring the best possible transition to her successor,” says CEO of Danske Bank Carsten Egeriis.

Taking over the role as Head of Large Corporates & Institutions, Joachim Alpen, who is currently co-head of Large Corporates & Financial Institutions at SEB, will join Danske Bank on 1 August 2023 and become part of Danske Bank’s Executive Leadership Team. Joachim Alpen has been with SEB since 2001 and has been a member of its Executive Committee since 2014.

I am very happy that Joachim will be joining our Executive Leadership Team. After an extensive search, we have assessed Joachim to be the most qualified candidate on the basis of his extensive leadership and banking experience. I am confident that he will contribute greatly to ensuring even better customer experiences and expanding on our leading position within large corporate and institutional customers across the Nordic markets,” says Carsten Egeriis.
