Danske Bank to appoint new Chief Compliance Officer and member of the Executive Leadership Team

Danske Bank has appointed Dorthe Tolborg as new Chief Compliance Officer and member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Dorthe Tolborg joined Danske Bank in 2014 and has been Chief Audit Executive since 2015. Prior to this, she held similar positions with large insurance companies and has worked as a State Authorised Public Accountant.

I am very pleased to welcome Dorthe to the Executive Leadership Team. From our years together at Danske Bank, I already know Dorthe as an extremely capable, competent and effective leader, who is also held in very high regard by her colleagues. I am also pleased that we are able to promote such a strong internal candidate to our Executive Leadership Team. Anchoring compliance in the Executive Leadership Team will ensure that, following years of significant investments, we can continue to integrate our compliance efforts into our business, and with her background and competencies, Dorthe is exactly the right person to lead this work. We continue to prioritise an effective and efficient compliance function to ensure that we meet our commitments and regulatory requirements and to support an even better customer experience,” says CEO of Danske Bank Carsten Egeriis.

Dorthe Tolborg, who is currently Chief Audit Executive at Danske Bank, will be taking over the role as Chief Compliance Officer and will become part of Danske Bank’s Executive Leadership Team on 1 June 2023. This means that the ELT will expand to consist of nine members. The search for Dorthe Tolborg’s successor at Group Internal Audit will now commence.

During the past years, we have come a long way with our overall management of compliance risk, and I look very much forward to be leading this area, which is a key priority for Danske Bank. We will continue to ensure that we both create the best possible customer experience and manage Danske Bank’s compliance risks. This is the right thing to do for our customers and for the societies we are part of. While I will of course miss working closely with my great colleagues in Group Internal Audit, I am looking forward to working with very competent colleagues in Compliance,” says Dorthe Tolborg.

Dorthe Tolborg succeeds Satnam Lehal, who earlier this year announced that he would be leaving Danske Bank in early 2024 as he wants to pursue a career outside Denmark. He will stay on to ensure the best possible handover and will furthermore focus on the final implementation of the Financial Crime Plan.
