Danske Bank achieves its highest-ever ranking among business students in Denmark

In Universum’s new 2026 ranking, Danske Bank climbs to 5th place among business students in Denmark and 12th place among IT students. This is the bank’s best result ever among business students and its strongest ranking among IT students in several years.

In the annual survey by the international analytics and advisory company Universum, which identifies the employers students in Denmark would most like to join at the start of their careers, Danske Bank continues to strengthen its position. In 2026, the bank moves up from 7th to 5th place among business students and from 14th to 12th place among IT students. The progress among IT students is particularly noteworthy, as the financial sector has traditionally not been seen as an obvious choice for students with an IT background.

This means Danske Bank continues its upward trajectory in Denmark for the fourth year in a row, and its 5th-place ranking among business students is the bank’s best ever in this group. Danske Bank is also the highest-ranked company in the financial sector among business students.

The result indicates that Danske Bank is increasingly appealing to young people with a range of academic and professional profiles.

We know that this interest does not come by itself. We have to keep earning it by offering a work environment with responsibility, development opportunities and flexibility in everyday life.

“We are, of course, very pleased with the result. When more students see Danske Bank as an attractive place to start their career, we see that as important recognition. But we also know that this interest does not come by itself. We have to keep earning it by offering a work environment with responsibility, development opportunities and flexibility in everyday life,” says Karsten Breum, Chief People Officer at Danske Bank.

The development also reflects broader trends in what young people today value when choosing an employer.

“In our dialogue with students, we can see that their priorities have shifted. Many are still ambitious, but they have also become more conscious of the conditions they want in working life. Stability and flexibility matter more in their choices, and they increasingly value a caring culture, as well as terms and benefits that provide security in everyday life – such as pensions and health insurance. They are not only looking for a strong name, but for a place where they can develop professionally while also having room for life outside work,” says Ronja Gunhild Stentoft, Senior Employer Branding Consultant at Danske Bank.
